A sleep coach is a professional who can help you and your family restore harmony to your home. All experts agree that adequate and restful sleep is a necessary component of a healthy and happy family.  A sleep coach will support parents in assisting their baby’s development of healthy sleep habits. Coaching can be provided in a combination of ways including home visits, phone consultations and email support. After learning about the specific needs of your family a coach devolps a plan and will support you during the implementation.

As a parent we coach our children in many ways all throughout their lives. Unlike crawling and walking which are developmental milestones that come naturally, healthy sleep habits are not innate.  It’s important we acknowledge that many children have to be coached on how to put themselves to

sleep. Good sleep habits are a learned skill. Just like reading, manners and riding a bike.

Why can't I just read a book to solve my baby's sleep issue?

Child development books can provide valuable information to sleep deprived parents, but there is not one solution that fits every family. Each situation has its unique challenges.  Finding the right book, and creating a plan with your partner can be a daunting task in itself.  Attempting to implement a plan from a book that may not cover all the behaviors of your baby, can be challenging. Often times the problem you are experiencing is not adequately covered and has no clear solution for you. Therefore a book may not provide you with the reassurance you need to feel confident about beginning a new sleep program.
